RAFA - Romanian American Freedom Alliance
It started with a connection to community and an idea for a backdrop that could do more than simply fill a space.
For the 28th Annual Romanian Festival of Colorado, we collaborated to create a structure that would display Romanian textiles and become part of the festival’s photography backdrop. The design needed to live outdoors, come apart easily, travel well, and store in a small footprint.
From the initial rendering, we worked through the details that would make the idea work in three dimensions. Five reclaimed-wood panels, vertical banner supports, and a textile and wood mixed-media artwork came together as one cohesive installation, with each element designed around the practical realities of installation, transportation, and storage.
The bases stack together to minimize the footprint, while the lower sections unscrew to create concealed spaces for sandbags, adding stability without distracting from the finished design.
What began as an idea became something tangible—a handcrafted installation built to frame Romanian textiles and become part of a celebration of community, culture, and connection.

Great artwork deserves a frame created with the same level of intention.
This collection showcases four custom frames created for one artist across multiple projects. Each piece required a different design approach—balancing the artwork’s colors, textures, scale, and personality to create a finished presentation that felt complete.
The process was not about creating matching frames, but about understanding each individual work and designing a frame that enhanced its unique character.
Through thoughtful craftsmanship and collaboration, these pieces became more than frames—they became part of the artwork’s story.
Evan Magill
It started with a message from metal artist Evan Magill. He had a sketch for a metal jackalope and needed the right foundation for it to live on.
We collaborated on the wall mount, working through proportions, wood choice, and how the sculpture would meet the surface, so it felt intentional, not just placed on top.
From that sketch we created a rendering, then built the plate in solid hardwood. Shaped, refined, and finished to support the metal without competing with it.
Once it left our shop, Evan attached the Jackalope. That’s when the piece finally became whole. Two crafts. Two materials. One object.
